Als u in de kinderopvang werkt in Ghana — of het nu in een kinderdagverblijf, peuterspeelzaal, thuisopvang of kamp is — is de certificering in EHBO en reanimatie niet optioneel. Het is een vergunningsvereiste, en terecht: kinderen behoren tot de meest kwetsbaren voor verstikking, allergische reacties en verwondingen. Voorbereid zijn om in te grijpen kan alles veranderen.

Wat Ghana vereist

Ghana's day-care centre guidelines require a clearly marked first-aid box kept out of children's reach, with emergency numbers inside and its location known to every worker, while the Factory, Offices and Shops Act of 1970 obliges every establishment to have a first aider and a first-aid kit. No national ratio of certified first aiders or renewal cycle is fixed for day-cares specifically. The clear expectation all the same is that the adults caring for children know how to respond when one is hurt or falls ill.
